Embracing My Nomadic Nature: My Journey to Living on Wheels

The road is calling…and I’m answering.
I’ve always known I wasn’t meant to stay in one place.
Even when I didn’t fully understand it, I’ve felt that pull to wander freely, the call to live simply, and breathe easefully. And with less than a week until my birthday, I’m finally giving myself the gift I’ve dreamed of since I was a teenager: permission to imagine and create a different life. To hit the road. To live on wheels. To explore sustainability and freedom while living a life that is fully mine.
A life in harmony with the land. A life lived exploring the sacred intersections of recovery, spirituality, hospitality, and herbalism. A life with more space for breath, beauty, and belonging.
For most of my life, I’ve been surviving, not living. Growing up, I was told stability meant a fixed address, a 9-to-5 job, and a mortgage with a 30-year commitment. Throughout my 20s, I struggled with housing insecurity, which led me to unlearn what I thought “home” was supposed to feel and look like.
After navigating chronic and rare conditions most of my life, balancing on that thin, exhausting tightrope between bedridden and bed rotting, I couldn’t deny the divine whisperings that were calling to me: There’s more.
More to feel.
More to create.
More to live for.
So, I asked myself: What if home is within? How can freedom, healing, and sustainability exist for me outside of traditional structures?
And that inspired me to start a new blog series and revamp my old podcast to share my journey and story of being The Nomad of Mercy.
Why Now?
As a queer Black woman in recovery, I know firsthand how cruel and heavy the world can feel when you’re trying to heal, redefine yourself, and carve out a life that actually nourishes you. Mainstream narratives rarely make space for us, especially not in conversations about sustainability and alternative living. So, I’m making that space.
I’m doing this for future me. For younger me. For the version of me who never quite felt like she fit the mold—nerdy, neurospicy, and reimagining what “home” means on her own terms. And for present me most importantly.
I’m doing this for you too. If you’ve ever wondered what it would feel like to ditch the blueprint and follow your own internal compass. If you’re craving more connection with the Earth, yourself, and others. If you’re van-curious or bus-curious. If you’re tired of hustle culture. If you just want to slow the hell down.
This isn’t just a personal journey, this is an extension of my work to cultivate and curate spaces where I and others can explore our ability and options for figuring things out. A space to discuss and share all things nomadic living, self-sustainability, ministry, and creating the life we desire on our terms. So, if you desire genuine freedom, want to leave a lighter footprint on the planet, or are just curious about what it means to exist outside of oppressive systems, then this is for you.
I'm kicking off chapter 35 with the blog series, which will lead to the podcast launch this fall. Join me as I document my real-time journey toward building a sustainable, nomadic life. From dreaming and planning to eventually living full-time on wheels,
I’m carving out my path and mapping my travels.
