From resolutions to revelations…

It’s the middle of January already, and I am so glad I let go of making new year resolutions. Because, who wants to constantly pressure themselves to improve with little to no results? Not I.

I prefer to align my day to day living and schedule with the natural order of life over the Gregorian calendar. I believe that ancient civilizations like the Chinese, Maya, and the Egyptians had it right following the rhythm and flow of nature. Looking to the sun, moon, stars, elements, & seasons for guidance and nourishment to live day to day. As I’ve grown and made progress professionally, I’ve learned the importance of utilizing both.

So while most see this time as the start to a new year, I recognize it as the reset to my fiscal year. My true new year happens at Spring Equinox.

Having this revelation, among many others over the last few years, has led me to forgo the typical American practice of setting unrealistic resolutions. Instead, I review and assess my dimensions of wellbeing using a system I developed and tools acquired along the way. This enables me to truly evolve as a being instead of temporarily changing my behavior due to arbitrary traditions and then relapsing later.

Define what a LIFE worth living means to you.

This may change season to season, let alone year to year. Give yourself grace and space to accept and embrace that. I encourage you to (re)connect with your faith or explore a new philosophy like Live Simply for inspiration.
