New Year, New Perspective: How I Leveled Up in 2022

New Year, New Perspective: How I Leveled Up in 2022

It’s 2023 and I am so glad to finally be done with trying to make new year resolutions.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I still set goals and intentions for the year. Yet after the life I had 2021 and prior, I have learned to set specific intentions along with SMART goals to build the life I’ve always wanted. While I still have many dreams and goals to accomplish, I can honestly say that 2022 prepared me for and showed me a life worth living.

Have you ever looked at the lives of people on social media and wish your life was better? Do you wonder why some people’s lives look amazing while your life may feel boring or disappointing?

Well suga, this may be a little tough to hear…you listening? Good. Your perspective has you jealous for no reason. Listen. I know you want to change your life fast and make all of your dreams come true right now. And you know what? You deserve to live your absolute best life. And you can, and will, if you are able to shift your perspective. Successful people aren’t any different than you and I, they just believed in themselves + put in the work. And now it’s your turn to do the same.

Before we dig any deeper, let’s take a moment to breathe.

Breathe in and embrace the success you desire. Breathe out and release any doubt.

Now that we have a clear mind, here are the steps I took to level up in 2022 to live the life I’ve been dreaming of in 2023 (and beyond):

1. Define what success means to you ( what does it look, feel, taste, smell, & sound like?).

  • Know your why.

    • Is it mainly about your career, your community, or is it personal?

  • Know your where.

    • Where are you going? What’s your end goal?

  • Do less of / remove what no longer serves you.

  • Ask yourself, is my definition of success liberating or limiting?

2.Get help from people who inspire you and/or are trained to teach you.

  • Knowledge / Wisdom

    • It would be beneficial to commit some time each week (as close to daily as possible) to learn / study from books or a mentor.

  • YouTube is bible.

    • There are so many ways to learn these days. Don’t limit yourself. (There’s also Teachable, Skillshare, & other platforms like them.)

    • Podcasts & audiobooks are another great way to learn.

  • Seek out what makes you excited (to be a part / to do it / to learn more)

    • The more you’re looking forward to doing something the more likely you are to do it.

3. Make a plan & stick to it.

  • Accountability partners are key to seeing things through to completion.

    • Your plan should cover what you should do step by step, who is involved, deadlines, and a simple schedule.

  • Do your research.

    • Find what works for you. Nothing in this life is “one size fits all.”

  • Focus on, enjoy, and trust the process.

    • Without a process, there is no progress. Plus, quality takes time; enjoy the ride.

4. Invest in yourself (how much is your freedom/success/wellbeing worth?).

  • You’re worthy & you’re worth it. Don’t be cheap when it comes to achieving your goals.

    • If we were invested in our health as much as our entertainment, we would be a much healthier society.

  • Do what brings you joy.

    • This is an investment in and of itself.

[PULSE CHECK] How we feeling? Y’all alright?

I know thinking about all of this can feel intimidating, and maybe even overwhelming, yet with patience and support you will level up and achieve what you set your mind to.

How are you planning to level up in 2023? What’s your main goal for this year?
